The Derrick
Software in use: AdMAX, Layout-8000, SCS/ClassPag, Scoop
Testimonial
"We had problems with every other system but this one, so when we went to order a new ad system and we wanted a total pagination system, we talked to them (SCS)." -Jon MacPherson, IT Director, The Derrick, Oil City, PA
Their story
Derrick Publishing produces a regional daily, The Derrick (circulation: 31,691), along with semi-weekly newspapers for western Pennsylvania
The Derrick replaced its homegrown editorial system with a 16-seat Scoop system including Scoop Edit for reporting, editing and copy flow and Scoop’s Content Manager for automated file management. Included in the Scoop purchase is a QuickWire system for wire handling.
For pagination, the paper switched from QuarkXpress® to Adobe InDesign®. Most of the user questions for the SCS installer during the practice sessions were related to this conversion rather than to Scoop itself. It did not take long for the users to become acclimated to InDesign, however, even though they had no formal training in InDesign before or during the switch.
Developed by Scoop Publishware AB in Sweden, the Scoop editorial system is distributed by SCS in North America. The system features modular, scalable tools for reporting, file management, edition and page tracking, online editions, library management and other editorial needs.
